No nobility

 

With regard to the smuggling article on Allen Long [“Unloaded,” cover story February 7], his book may be an interesting dark side adventure. However, I was struck by the quote in the final paragraph of The Hook interview. With respect to smuggling marijuana, Long says "There was always the possibility of death, but death with honor. Death for a cause." 

To this sentiment I would say that smuggling nearly one million pounds of marijuana into the country has nothing to do with honor. It is simply high-level criminal activity.  Nothing particularly noble here.
