Not P.C. part I

Reading your first column [“Sizzlin’ at the Copa,” 02/07/02], I am outraged that you relate a comment “so what guy hasn’t been involved in a gangbang” as “something deliciously inappropriate.” The point is, as a woman, and I assume you are a woman, I would not find being raped by several men at a time as appropriate or tasty. Have you been gangbanged, and did you find it tasty? Please respect being female. This is one more instance of making light of the very real violence against women.

This letter is directed to restaurant reviewer Lucy Robbins, who is indeed a woman. She reports that she thought that the term “gangbang” had a far less sinister meaning, so she joins all of us at The Hook in saying sorry for the misunderstanding.—ed.
