Saturday, March 7, with its calm breezes and above-70-degree temperatures, brought out dozens of golfers to the City’s McIntire Park golf course. A day-earlier article in the Progress suggests that this site would make a nice botannical garden.

Charlottesville police have named 23-year-old Charlottesville resident Victor Ramon Maxey as the man arrested for the May 13 shooting at 1800 Jefferson Park Avenue. Maxey has been charged with one count of aggravated malicious wounding, two counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling, and two counts of use of a firearm while committing a felony. The victim, whose identity has not been released, underwent surgery and remains hospitalized in critical condition. According to the police press release, Maxey and the victim are acquaintances. (
