Cooling/showering facilities:

Covenant Church of God gymnasium, 1025 Rio Road East, 973-5536, 9am-4pm thru Friday – cooling and showers available (phone-confirmed 7/5)

Key Recreation Center, 800 E. Main Street, 293-8273, 10am-7pm  (phone-confirmed 7/5)

The University of Virginia offers the public three showering centers (phone-confirmed 7/5):

UVA Memorial Gym, 8am-9pm
UVA Aquatic & Fitness Center, 6am-10pm
UVA North Grounds Recreation Center, 6am-9pm

–>Please bring towels and toiletries to all showering centers, and UVA may require photo identification

Cooling-only facilities:

Earlysville Volunteer Fire Company, 283 Reas Ford Road,  973-8862, 1pm-7pm  (phone-confirmed 7/5)

–>Please note that both the Burnley-Moran Elementary and Albemarle High School overnight shelters that opened early in the emergency have now closed.

Beaches/swimming: 

Albemarle: The beaches at Mint Springs Valley Park remain closed, as there is no power, water, restrooms, or phone service. However, both Chris Green and Walnut Creek swimming parks are operational.
Charlottesville: The spray/swim centers at Mead Park and Washington Park are open as well as the wading pool in McIntire Park and the deluxe indoor Smith Aquatic Fitness Center.

Storm debris:

Albemarle County residents (or contractors clearing for County residents) can bring brush, trees, tree limbs, etc., to the following sites:
• Walnut Creek Park
• Mint Springs Valley Park
• Darden Towe Park
• Chris Green Lake Park
Sites open daily 7am-6pm and remaining open "throughout this emergency."
