Fifty acres of rolling Albemarle countryside surround the 8,900-square-foot palace. But because Winn's land is enrolled in a program designed to help farmers, he pays just $976 in taxes on those 50 acres about as much as the owner of a one-acre lot in Forest Lakes pays.
