Mike Seeger dies at 75 in Lexington

William Carter: Another iconic musician has died. Half-brother of the immortal Pete Seeger (Where Have All the Flowers Gone), Mike Seeger was a well-respected, versatile, and knowledgeable artist in his own right. He was a founder of the New Lost City Ramblers and learned songs from "old-time" musicians of the 1940's. The world is a lesser place without...
Allan Sizemore: I played a couple of shows with Mr. Seeger last summer, he was the nicest man you could meet and was very funny. We traded CD's and he gave me a copy of the New Lost City Ramblers box set. He also signed my banjo and when I asked him to he said "why would you want to ruin such a nice instrument?". I will always remember him, God Bless.
Jeff Romano: Godspeed Mike Seeger. Thanks for enriching our lives... Can I have your amazing chromatic set of juice harps?

Maine Guy: Just saw Big Surprise show at Hampton Beach, NH. Gillian sang lead vocals on only one song! Very disappointed about that... Also, out of about 20 musicians, she was the only woman, which unfortunately, reminded me of the demographic distribution of smurfs. PS: Felice Bros -- great songwriting -- muddy execution -- lots of notes and chords...
vegggirl: Saw the Big Surprise in C'ville on Sunday. My big surprise was seeing Gillian as a "also there" as opposed to a star attraction. I agree with Maine Guy.....very disappointing. David is a wonderful musician but I was looking forward to Gillian. As for the other acts, I also agree. Lots of instruments, lots of dancing around the stage (with some...

Liz Templeton: It was a great show, he was as good now as I remember him in the 70's. He played some good stuff, For A Dancer, Rock Me On the Water, In the Shape of a Heart, Jamaica Say You Will, The Load Out/Stay, Fountain of Sorrow, The Barricades of Heaven, Take it Easy................ and the Starr Hill "The Love" added to a wonderful evening. The...
