The Jim Baldi story

Following a July 20, 2010 story in the Hook, which delved into the circumstances surrounding Bel Rio Restaurant's sudden closure and Baldi’s disappearance, the long-time local bookkeeper, bartender, and restaurateur became the subject of a number of local news stories. According to police, Baldi, who turned 49 on August 13, embezzled money from WK Foods and Proffitt Management between November 2009 and July 15, 2010. On January 4, 2013, Baldi was arrested in San Fransisco, where he was living under the name "Dario di Sovana," along with a young woman also rumored to be missing, who went by Eliana di Sovana. Details began to emerge about Baldi's life on the run as he awaited extradition to face charges.
