Whiskey Jar: Streamlined Southern fare unveiled Feb 6

When we wrote about the impending opening of The Whiskey Jar restaurant back in January, we left out the part about the early February target because it seemed too ambitious for a place with raw walls and floors during our visit. However, bold ambitions reached fruition on Monday, February 6 when lead owner Will Richey and his merry band of restaurateurs began serving their stripped-down Southern fare. We returned with a camera on February 21 to see how it looks.

Stripped down, but priced up. Just not enough goodness for the price, although everyone has early growing pains.

yeah, food is hit or miss. been there a couple of times. one day it's great, the next, not so much. the wait staff have a tendency to disappear for long periods of time as well.

Fun new place and for once its inexpensive. I love the fact I can take a friend, eat and drink for less than my paycheck unlike almost everywhere else downtown

I think it should have been called The Whiskey Jug...sounds more southern IMO.

Is there a menu anywhere online for The Whiskey Jar? I found their FB page as well as Yelp and Urbanspoon....but no menu anywhere. Thanks!

We went once and I'm sorry to say we won't be back until they get their act together. The food is WAY too salty (we sent our entrees back and we're not the type of people to do so), the apps we're overcooked and too salty as well, and the service was so-so. The management did their best to remedy the situation, that was nice.
