Albemarle press release 10/27:

This morning, the Albemarle County Voter Registration Department received word from the Virginia State Board of Elections that in light of the forecasted severe weather conditions and the Governor’s announced state of emergency, registered voters who are concerned that they may not be able to travel to their precinct polling locations on election day, November 6, due to possible power outages, impassable roads, etc., may vote absentee in advance of the election.  The State Board advises that the acceptable absentee reason for these absentee applicants will be: 1D – Personal Business or Vacation – Severe Weather.

Qualified Albemarle County voters may vote an absentee ballot in-person at the Department of Voter Registration and Elections, 5th Street County Office Building, 1600 5th Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902.   Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. through 5 p.m.  For in-person absentee voting, in addition to regular weekday office hours, the office at 1600 5th Street will be open on Saturday, October 27, 2012 and Saturday, November 3, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m.   Saturday, November 3, 2011 at 5 p.m. is the deadline for in-person absentee voting for the November 6 general election, except for certain limited emergency situations.
