Rolling wonder: Elks showcase some sweet rides (slideshow)

On Saturday, April 9, sixty classic cars were on display at the second annual Charlottesville Elks Club Car Show on Stony Point Road, including a beauty owned by Bob Archer of Bob's Wheel Alignment: a 1935 Buick that won top honors at the National Car Show last year and was recently appraised at more than $180,000. Despite a drizzle that had some fretting about their beautifully waxed, garage-kept vehicular works of art, owners stood proudly beside their rides, happy to tell  stories about how they were found and restored. A 1957 T-Bird was found decaying in an open field two years ago, only to be restored to its former glory, complete with its original dusk rose color. Proceeds from the event will help send local children to summer camp. Va-roooom!
