Elks showcase sweet rides
On Saturday, April 9 sixty classic cars were on display at the 2nd Annual Charlottesville Elks Club Car Show on Stony Point Road, including a beauty owned by Bob Archer of Bob's Wheel Alignment; a 1935 Buick that took the Grand Prize Saturday. Archer's Buick also won top honors at the National Car Show last year and was recently appraised at more than $180,000. Despite the drizzle, which had some fretting about the effect it was going to have on their beautifully waxed, garage-kept vehicular works of art, owners stood proudly beside their rides, happy to tell their stories about how they were found and restored. A 1957 T-Bird was found decaying in an open field two years ago, only to be restored to its former glory, complete with its original dusk rose color. Proceeds from the event will help send local children to summer camp. Va-roooom!
