Jack Jouett story unplayed the mare

As a lover of history, I was thrilled to see the relatively unknown Jack Jouett finally receiving the credit he deserved. [May 12 cover story: "Midnight rider: How Jack Jouett saved Virginia"]

I couldn't help but notice one of the main characters in the story only received brief mentions. Shouldn't more attention have been paid to Sally, the mare who carried a 6-foot-4, 220-pound man 30 miles on an old trail with "matted undergrowth, tangled brush, overhanging vines, and gullies"– all in the dead of night?

As a life-long owner of horses, I think this equine's feat should hardly go unnoticed.
