CLARIFICATION

The bullet points in last week's letter entitled, Don't blame 'No Child,' come from studies conducted in the 17 years between A Nation at Risk and No Child Left Behind. Zealous Hook editing curtailed the author's assertion that massive additional education spending in the wake of A Nation at Risk did not cure American ignorance.

CORRECTION

Pardon our French. Last week's Hot Seat should have read, Médecins Sans Frontières.
