I disagree with J. Blair Reeves' attack on Ayn Rand's objectivism as "madness," which is an epithet, not an argument [Letters, "I thought Ayn Rand died," April 7]. I also disagree with the statement of Evan Williams, trying to defend her ["Sacrifice is Voluntary," April 14], that sacrifice is voluntary or his idea that Rand should be put in with the libertarians.

I have been reading Rand since 1968, and no one should take anybody else's word about her philosophy. Read her for yourself. I advise starting with the novels instead of the non-fiction, unless you don't like a good story.
