Wynn won: Next stop: regional NewSong finals

Robin Wynn, the local woman who made the semi-finals of a song-writing contest affiliated with the renowned Mountain Stage radio show, has made the finals.

"I was surprised," says Wynn. "I continue to be surprised."

On Wednesday, May 18, after The Hook went to press with a story on Wynn, she and 20 regional contenders performed their songs in the fourth annual Mountain Stage NewSong contest.

"We had to sit there agonizingly for an hour and a half while they judged," says Wynn. The wait was worth it.

The five finalists, including Wynn, will return to Strathmore, a Bethesda, Maryland performance center, on June 19 to perform their songs for the contest finals. Wynn's entry is entitled "Broken Sky."
