Blue moon bash: Winery hosts happenin' hoedown

Drizzling rains didn't dampen the spirit of the Blue Moon Festival at First Colony Winery on Saturday, August 27. The event was the second festival the winery hosted this summer.

Although Saturday's festivities were a bit tamer than the winery's annual Octoberfest– no grape stomping to be seen– the seven-piece bluegrass band Hounddog Hill Boys livened up the proceedings.

Guests swirled, sipped, and swooned over the reds, whites, and rosés downstairs, then headed upstairs to dance and enjoy some southern cuisine.

"The atmosphere's not always this exciting, but it's always this nice," said server Tracy Grimm.

First Colony Winery is about a mile off Scottsville Road.
