PHOTOPHILE- Book sale mania

The opening bell of the Friends of the Library Book Sale at the Gordon Avenue Library is always a bit of orchestrated chaos. For this year's March 16 event, book fiends came from far and wide to see if they could score children's books, academic texts, videos, or books on tape for their private collection or to stock their stores. By the time the door opened, the line stretched around the block. Competition went from in-line friendly to on-the-floor fierce just as the weather went from sunny and mild to gray and stormy. While some searchers found enough treasures to fill boxes and bags, others selected only a few items. However, no one left empty handed.
1. C.R. and Joann Hanna are from Portland, Oregon.
2. Karen Chaikin waits in the library garden.
3. Carol Lambert and Beverly Loveless demonstrate the art of staking a space in line.
4. Crystal, Heather, and Quinton Cole wait expectantly with April and Kathryn Martin.
5. Carol and Carrie Darlington spent the night to be first in line.
