EDITOR'S NOTE- Danger: read at own risk
Issue #21 of The Hook; published 06/27/02
There's a toxin in our town-- rhetorical poison.
It's just a word, but it gives us the willies. We're not telling you what it is, but if you feel yourself getting queasy as you read this issue's batch of otherwise harmless stories, you'll know you've found it.
The word means "portray" or "describe." Of course, with such perfectly serviceable words available, there's no reason you should ever have to resort to the unmentionable one. So don't mention it. Please. --editor
