I found the comment by a "longtime Ivy homeowner" suggesting that it would somehow be nice if a flood washed the Kajan's house away to be quite disturbing. What kind of person wishes such an event on his/her neighbor?

Sounds like some people have too much spare time.

For certain-- if this is how Ivy greets new residents, then they won't have to worry about future sprawl. No one will want to move there.
