In this issue, we welcome occasional Hook contributor Laura Parsons to a weekly gig. She takes over the reins of the visual arts beat in our Culture section. Parsons has made a name for herself locally by serving as deputy editor of C-ville and editor of Blue Ridge Outdoors and in recent months has become a top contributor to that new statewide magazine, Virginia Living. Check out her preview of the Film Festival's Fringe Festival on page 46 in this week's Hook.

Parsons follows Aaron Steinberg, who had been with the Hook since its inception (and earlier!). A full-time editor with University Press, Steinberg plans to focus on freelancing in his less-than-abundant free time.
