LETTER- Protesting too much

Published April 8, 2003 in issue #0314 of the Hook

In your issue of March 25, you print an article by Lisa Provence setting forth the "harassment" of Steven Turner by the Charlottesville Police Department in their attempt to obtain a DNA sample [News, "Fishing trip: 'Harassment' charges in rapist search"].

In the same issue, you publish Turner's attempt to rationalize his refusal to provide such a DNA sample [Essay, "Profile surprise: how I made the CPD's hit list"].

As Shakespeare said, he "doth protest too much," methinks.
