If you happened to be driving around Saturday morning, April 3, you may have noticed a peculiar sight: 10 miles of orange traffic cones lining city streets and byways. The occasion for such oddity, of course, was the 29th running of the Charlottesville 10-Miler.

The cloudy, cool morning provided good running conditions for the 1,600 or so racers. The 10-miler is basically a fun run in which the runners' high comes from completing the race. Hilly Charlottesville make it one of the more challenging races in the South. First-year med student Adam Carlson capped the win in an amazing 55:49. The winning woman was JMU hockey standout Lindsey Keller, with a race time of 1:03:50.

As with any race, it's the eclectic people who make it a fun social event. Along the course, gaggles of friends and families clapped and hollered to keep up the runners' motivation. Kudos to the Charlottesville Track Club for keeping this local tradition going for so many years.
