I think it would be a horrible idea to replace the spider lamps. [May 27: "Squash the spiders: Consultants want new Mall lamps"]

The are a part of downtown atmosphere. You don't see them trying to update the style of benches for the mall, now do you?

I understand that these new lamps may provide more light and things of that nature, but why not just give the existing lamps a slight reworking? They are a part of downtown and should not be taken away or replaced, especially with the horrible looking one pictured in the bottom right hand corner of the picture

On a lighter note I think putting more benches on the Downtown Mall is a great idea. I find myself having to try and sit on those planting pots due to the lack of alternative seating.
