Having served with Gary Grant on the Albemarle County School Board, I was delighted to see that he's running for the supervisor's seat from my district. As your article [May 5: "Grant's charge: Schools vet wants supe seat"] stated, he is no shrinking violet, and he hardly needs me to speak for him. He will make his views clear, and what he says is what voters will get.

I did not always agree with Grant, but I always respected his integrity, his dedication, and his service to our community.

Although I am a registered Democrat, this looks like one of those times I will have to cross party lines to vote for someone I admire and respect. We are lucky to have a candidate who will give his heart and soul to making this county a better place to live.
