NEWS- Wish you were {t}here: Yo La Tengo at Starr Hill, February 8, 2007

Yo Yo Yo! The indie rock trio Yo La Tengo proved that, as the English translation of their name would indicate, they've still got it. Yo La Tengo's 20-plus years of making music drew fans of all ages to Starr Hill Music Hall who seemed to respect not only hometown hero James McNew but also a band that has reinvented their sound with each new album.

The musicians were certainly not afraid to showcase their new album's driving force with thumping tracks like "Pass the Hatchet, I Think I'm Goodkind," that reminded everyone just how much Starr Hill's floor can shake.

Who knows? By the time they come back to Charlottesville next time, Yo La Tengo may have a brand new set of floorboards to shake with their latest tunes.

Guitarist Ira Kaplan wails in the foreground while Charlottesville's own bassman James McNew grooves along.

Drummer Georgia Hubley beats the skins.
