Terri Allard may be one of the most familiar names on local stages, but starting last week she also began beaming into local living rooms-- and not as a singer.
Allard has a new career thanks to public television station WHTJ which held a kick-off party last Thursday, November 8, to thank the sponsors and volunteers who made the new weekly talk show, Charlottesville Inside-Out, possible.
Each 30-minute episode is filmed around the region or in the station's new studios located-- along with office space-- next to the Virginia Discovery Museum on the Downtown Mall.
Guests during the first season include African drummer Darrell Rose, Innisfree Village director Carolyn Ohle, University of Virginia President John Casteen, Starr Hill brewmaster Mark Thompson, Art in Place founder Elizabeth Breeden, and many more.
The site of the premiere party was enoteca, a new wine bar at 401 East Main on the Downtown Mall (formerly the site of the VaVino wine bar). The event also featured a sneak preview of WHTJ's new long-form documentary about the Sorensen Institute at UVA and other station initiatives including new digital channels.
