Pain for gain: High-intensity fitness trend trumps machines
“Who’s gonna win?” calls former Navy Seal John McGuire to the group of about 50 people lined up before him. “We are!” the group yells back in unison, “Hoo-yah!” Up before the sun, the group sprints across a still-dewy field, drops and does pushups, runs relays, lifts and carries one another, working in teams to hoist giant inflatable rafts across an invisible finish line. At the center of this coordinated commotion is McGuire, calling out instructions.
