Crews erected a construction crane on Thursday, January 20, a powerful visual symbol of the long-awaited (and scaled down) Waterhouse project, a now six-story, $20 million mixed-use complex of offices, retail space, and apartments atop a parking garage that will span the gap between West Water and South Streets.

Yeah, but I bet you can get Bill Marshall and a lot of other flakes to cry that Obama is killing jobs.

To hear the GOP tell it, the Obama administration's policies PREVENT projects like these from happening. So, you'll have to explain why it IS happening. Otherwise, your comment adds no value to the discussion.

Tom, aka, Colossal Prick - Nice try, but I am not Old Timer. I was merely attempting to elaborate on what I interpreted Old Timer's point to be since your response to it indicated a lack of understanding on your part (shocker).

You are obviously incapable of contributing to a real discussion, and your attempts to make this an anti-Obama posting are pathetic.

Sit and spin, dillhole.

Last crane we had downtown like that was for the Landmark. Let's hope this one is both better secured (remember the photos?) and not a harbinger of a shell to come.

Terrific, Judge's Ruling, in your reaction to making a personal attack upon Tom. It is only in this confrontational and offensive atmosphere that any of us can make a difference. Stand up for what you believe and attack the opposite viewpoint with vigor. Such contructive dialogue...let's be sure that the children learn this.

@WW: What are you, the Net-Nanny? I'm sure Tom is a big boy (or girl), and can handle it.

Old Timer, aka, Judge's Ruling - It's happening because a private entity has determined that they can finance the construction of a building, and lease or rent the space to tenants at a rate that allows them to repay the debt, cover operating costs, and make a profit. That's the way things work in the real world.

Tom - Way to go to make it personal!!

And why are those financial funds available Tom? Oh yeah, because of the taxpayer bailing private banks and the Fed still being the lender of last resort, that's why. and becaue of money put intothe hands of all those people unemployed through nofault of their own, so they cn still spend it. That came from the government too.

There is nothing private about Big Business. If it had to do it on it's own we would still be in a depression.

When cranes start to get erected, it is a good sign the economy is getting better.

Old Timer - You'll have to explain how any of Obama's policies is making this project happen. Otherwise, your comment adds no value to the discussion.
