High winds from Tropical Storm Ida loosened the sign at Body Equilibrium on Old Preston Avenue. Other areas across the state, particularly on the coast, have fared worse, and Governor Tim Kaine has issued a state of emergency. There's a flood warning on the James River at Bremo Bluff, which was expected to crest more than three feet above flood stage by Friday night, November 13. Roads were reported closed in the Roanoke, New River and Lynchburg areas.
