Snap: Bye-bye Wachovia

The bank building long known as Jefferson National is losing its most recent moniker. Since Wells Fargo bought Wachovia during the 2008 financial turmoil, it's been inevitable that the West Coast bank's name would replace that of the North Carolina-born Wachovia on the Downtown Mall. The new Wells Fargo sign officially will be unveiled in August.

Serves Wachovia right. That is exactly the same thing they did to First National Bank of Atlanta many moons ago. That merger of equals was known as First Wachovia. A few short years later, the First was erased.
