Peter Kleeman, a well-known pedestrian activist (and former Hook writer), has already begun protesting yesterday’s U.S. Senate vote toward a $700 billion financial bail-out package, which both Senators from Virginia approved. Here, Talis Basham, Talis’ mom Oriah, and Kleeman, hold signs on West Main.

“I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.”
-Thomas Jefferson 1802
I saw them while walking home from work. I wanted to give them some pointers on making signs people can actually read from more than three feet away.
If I had heard of the protest, I may have joined in.
Wish I didn’t have to work so hard, wish I had enough time to stand on street and hold sign up. Wish that if I didn’t miss work today i would still be able to pay electric bill. Wish if I missed more than two days I would still be able to afford groceries and feed my family. Well I guess some people just got more than others. Famous Quote
“Life ain’t fare” mom
I believe Mr. Kleeman is retired and that he works as a consultant on transportation matters. You obviously still have your dues to pay in the force so stop moaning.
