Belmont Baptist Church has just won a $25,000 grant for its “laundry ministry,” a new effort to help struggling people wash their clothes. The grant will buy washers and dryers that financially disadvantaged can use free of charge, says church member (and noted photographer) Jim Carpenter. The grant comes from a organization to which the Church belongs, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, which urges congregations to make practical contributions in their communities. The new ministry kicks off Wednesday, the 28th of October with a 6pm soup and sandwich pot-luck dinner and service to follow. But will the sins get washed away with the dirt? Inquiring minds want to know.

Are you going to buy the washers and dryers FOR the poor, or just buy them for the poor to use?

(KJV) Luk 18:22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
