Great article. The Hook really put a lot of effort into writing this article.
I had never gone to a Tea Party event and it was eye-opening. They made some great points about taxes and waste, especially keynote speaker Robert Tazinski. The supporters of candidates vying to defeat Tom Perriello were there, as were a couple of the candidates themselves. Lawrence Verga was as boring as a dead fish. Ken Boyd, nice guy, but not a chance to win. Robert Hurt seemed to be the clear front-runner as the “machine” candidate. Mike McPadden had a lot of support there, while Feda Morton, Jim McKelvey and Ron Ferrin were totally absent and had no supporters there what so ever.
Lots of automobiles were honking their horns and lots of Pink Slip Perriello and Tom has got to go chants. Rob Schilling, Christian Shoenwald and a lot of local folks were there. It was a lot of fun.

The simpleton Birthers along with the Tea baggers are the same whiners that were crying when the McCain/Bailin ticket lost. Now that their yelling and screaming failed to stop the health care debate and the bill from passing they are crying again. Let’s face it the Republicans had eight years to deal with health care, immigration, climate change and financial oversight and governance and they failed. The Republicans are good at starting wars (two in eight years, with fat contracts to friends of Cheney/Bush) but not at winning wars as seen by the continuing line of body bags that keep coming home. Instead of participating in the health care debate of ideas the Republicans party turned inward to their old fashion obstructionist party (and their Confederacy roots). In my opinion the Republican Waterloo loss was caused by the party allowing a small portions (but very loud) of the republican party of “birthers, baggers and blowhards” to take over their party. I will admit that this fringe is very good at playing “Follow the Leader” by listening to their dullard leaders, Beck, Hedgecock, Hannity, O’Reilly, Rush, Savage, Sarah Bailin, Orly Taitz, Victoria Jackson, Michele Bachmann and the rest of the Blowhards and acting as ill programmed robots (they have already acted against doctors that perform abortions). The Birthers and the Tea party crowd think they can scare, intimidate and force others to go along with them by comments like “This time we came unarmed”, let me tell you something not all ex-military join the fringe militia crazies who don’t pay taxes and run around with face paint in the parks playing commando, the majority are mature and understand that the world is more complicated and grey than the black and white that these simpleton make it out to be and that my friend is the point. The world is complicated and people like Hamilton, Lincoln, and Roosevelt believed that we should use government a little to increase social mobility, now it’s about dancing around the claim of government is the problem. The sainted Reagan passed the biggest tax increase in American history and as a result federal employment increased, but facts are lost when mired in mysticism and superstition. Although some Republicans are trying to distant themselves from this fringe most of them, having no game plan/ vision for our country, are just going along and fanning the flames. For a party that gave us Abraham Lincoln, it is tragic that the ranks are filled with too many empty suits. But they now claim they have changed, come on, what sucker is going to believe that? All I can say to you is remember Waterloo.

Is everyone insane in Montana, or do we just get special treatment? I am a Democrat but I am not a hater like you. These people have valid points. I voted for Obama but mainly because I thought Bush was spending too much. Now Obama is spending at triple Bush’s rate. Makes Obama and Montana look bad. Take you hate somewhere else!
I think Rob Schilling can occasionally be useful (at least when he isn’t in an elected position, we all saw how that went), but logic or consistency certainly aren’t his strong suits. What sort of nanny state loving whiner thinks the police need to be called because someone says a few naughty words?
What Mr. Schilling caught on tape was a real abuse of police power, not the sort that exist only in the minds of Palinites and ditto heads. A man was detained by police despite doing nothing illegal. Schilling blathers about pressing charges when there are no charges to press. I challenge him to identify which law was violated.

The First Amendment was not fashioned as a vehicle for dispensing tranquilizers to the people. Its prime function was to keep debate open to “offensive” as well as to “staid” people.”
Mr. Schilling though does think the state ought to be spending tax money dispensing tranquilizers. Ironic indeed considering the event where that took place.

Americans, educated ones at least, generally do know the difference between spelling a word and pronouncing it.

My dear Mr. Tang, when you write a post to say that other people are not so bright, you should at least use correct grammar.
Most Americans will never have any need to pronounce Chinese correctly. You, on the other hand, live where English is routinely spoken and written.
It would seem to me to be much more indicative of not only ignorance, but laziness as well for someone to live in a country different than that in which he was born and not to bother to learn to use its language correctly. UVA’s Writing Center has tutors. Maybe one would be willing to help you attempt to insult me.
