VQR managing editor takes his own life
Write a letter to the editorAround 11am on Saturday, July 30 Virginia Quarterly Review managing editor Kevin Morrissey took his own life after calling police to report a shooting at the Coal Tower site at the end of Water Street. Waldo Jaquith, who worked under Morrissey at the award-winning literary journal, has a tribute at cvillenews.com.
Very sad.
Yes, very sad. True Journalist never get the credit they deserve. Their families are special. I only can pray for the family, but also think we all too often take REAL journalist for granted.
The direct cause, or shall we say the suspected direct cause of this unfortunate event has now been posted over on cvillenews.com by a Maria Morrissey. It involved a workplace bully and UVA refusing to do much about it.
Gasbag:
You know I respect you,I am sure your information has credence.
But honestly, just this one time please!
Journalist the real ones, they let us write. You, I and Sean. Well I guess no of us are going to win ant=y contest. But Journalist have a bond, Not as visual as other professions. Y dare not speak for these giants, they are the 4 th branch of the United States.
I just think this time, maybe and I know it is hard. But think of the family, his friends and all of the journalist in Virgina. This time. Just remember with out them we have no voice. I know they do not go out every day with a uniform, not often but some times they tread in to water with out a Radio, a backup, or a weapon.
See the pen is mightier than the sword, all should know that quote
It is not mine.
Just how bout us 3 this time, each find something positive to say
Sean, Steve with out these journalist, editors, researcher and staff we would have no voice
@Gasbag…Yep, you’re right UVA is sitting on their hands again……
