However, unlike the Muppet’s Swedish chef, Little Sweden Café owner Eva Elm doesn’t speak gibberish, wear a toque blanche, or fling utensils. Plus, she really knows how to cook!

Hops hoedown a-coming

Attention, beer lovers! Mark your calendar for Saturday, September 11. That’s when Starr Hill Brewery and Beer Run will be hosting their Top of the Hops beer-tasting extravaganza at the Charlottesville Pavillion. There’ll be more that 150 beers to sample, plus some food, live music, and even a Brew University Education Tent with seminars on food pairings and how to brew your own beer. Locovors are invited to Meet Yer Eats at the 2nd annual Farm Tour. Gather your friends, fill a car, and chart a course to visit four or five of the 18 host farms participating in this year’s event. You can meet the folks who grow your food, sample some of their treats, and purchase the freshest produce, eggs, meat, cheese, plants and other farm products. The tour is held rain or shine, so dress for the weather and wear sturdy, close-toed shoes, hat, and sunscreen. The Heritage Harvest Festival at Monticello is a family friendly, educational event that brings together a regional community of organic and sustainable gardening proponents, heirloom plant preservationists, and seed savers. Food tastings, a seed swap, workshops, demonstrations, and other hands-on-activities. Come early for the Old Timey Seed Swap from 9-11am. It’s a chance for seed savers to share their knowledge, enthusiasm, and seeds.
