Maybe it just wasn’t selling so well?
Imagine that - not enough people wanted to pay $91 (plus fees, of course) to sit inside or $32 (plus fees, of course) to sit on the “lawn” to see somebody who hasn’t created any remotely notable songs in over 35 years. Now if she hadn’t fired the Pips all those years ago…
Seriously though, Gladys Knight has an amazing voice - I have a recording of her singing “Please Bring Me Somebody To Love,” the old Percy Mayfield tune, and it brings me to my knees every time I hear it. But it ain’t worth $92, that’s for sure. Neither is a night at the Pavilion, frankly.
To quote the Dismemberment Plan: “…Gladys girl I love you but OH! Get a life!”
