Trader's dirt

You have to scrape a few trees to build something, and nowhere is that more evident than at Stonefield, the 65-acre mixed-used development at the corner of Hydraulic Road and U.S. 29. On the morning of November 13, pilot-photographer Skip Degan flew overhead to check on the progress. Three weeks later, the site's most controversial design aspect– the brick color of a planned Trader Joe's store– moved forward with a 3-2 vote by the Architectural Review Board of Albemarle County.
