No big bang

The Albemarle school day is over, and despite massive absenteeism prompted by fears that unindicted co-conspirators of the four convicted teenagers would use April 20– the 7th anniversary of Columbine, Hitler’s birthday and the 17th birthday of the convicted Western Albemarle student– to wreak havoc, no bombs were reported going off, no guns were snuck in through metal-detectorless doors, and no student casualties were reported, although officials are braced for a rash of sunburn cases caused by today’s 85-degree temperatures that were ideal for hooking school.

Yeah, I guess the other five kids they didn’t catch got the message and decided to straighten up and fly right.

Did you ever stop to consider that maybe there never really was a bomb plot?
I considered it, SnapDragon. I honestly think it was just a few kids acting out fantasies on the Internet. They just didn’t realize their words could be used against them in the real world. And boy oh boy, the firecrackers sure sealed the deal! Who would ever keep firecrackers in their home. I sure am glad they are off the street. :)
Here’s what seems to be a legitimate arrest/concern in Riverton, Kansas. The authorities actually found tools of the plot, not just firecrackers. :)
Five teenage boys fully intended to go on a shooting spree at their high school …. Sheriff’s deputies found guns, ammunition, knives and coded messages in the bedroom of one suspect, Norman said. Authorities also found documents about firearms and references to Armageddon in two suspects’ school lockers…. Deputies’ interviews with the suspects indicated they planned to wear black trench coats and disable the school’s camera system before starting the attack
Two weeks ago, 4 kids were arrested for planning an attack at Winslow Township High School in Camden NJ. They had a very specific plan which the police revealed (the opposite extreme from the local case) and had been actively trying to buy guns. The problem is that sometimes the danger is real and sometimes,it isn’t. And we can’t tell the difference.
