After some speculation that he might join his former Virginia Cavaliers teammate Chris Long with the St. Louis Rams, UVA fourth-year offensive tackle Eugene Monroe was the eighth overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft, selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Monroe’s selection marks the fourth time in five years that a player from UVA has been drafted in the first round. Three other Wahoos heard their names called over the weekend: linebacker Clint Sintim was selected in the second round by the New York Giants, and running back Cedric Peerman became a Baltimore Raven in the sixth round, and tight end John Phillips went to the Dallas Cowboys, also in the sixth round.

My girlfriend is very ophiophobic… we saw the snake down there and for the next hour every time I’d put my arm around her she’d flinch a little. (and no, that’s not normal :)
