Swine flu kills UVA patient

Swine flu has claimed its first victim in the Thomas Jefferson Health District, according to a press release from the Virginia Department of Health. The patient, a male, had an underlying health condition and died at UVA Medical Center on September 28, according to Medical Center spokesperson Sally Jones, who declined to offer further details on the patient.

UVA Medical Center made news recently for its decision to require staff members to don masks while treating patients if they did not receive a seasonal flu vaccine.

    Masks at U2 tonight? Sick people in Charlottesville, and not just in the schools, more and more showing up at the hospital and in the doctors offices.
