UVA artist Gasman dies

news-lydiagasmanRetired UVA art history professor and currently exhibiting artist Lydia Gasman died January 15 at the age of 84, according to a University release.

    Zany Lydia with the red hair will be missed, and luckily, her spunky art will live on. Once, while lecturing, the story goes, she saw a young co-ed in the hall sound asleep; calling out to her she said, dear, you must be tired and need a rest, and so she stopped the lecture and dismissed the class, so the girl could retire to her bed.
