Apparently ill-content to just rack up album sales and critical acclaim with The Hold Steady, keyboardist Franz Nicolay launched a solo EP last year which splits the difference between his primary band’s mainstream appeal and the niche Balkan and klezmer projects he’d probably have otherwise spent his weekends with.
