Studio 60 boss hails from Charlottesville

One of the lead characters in NBC’s new drama Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip confirmed on this week’s episode that she hails from Charlottesville.
The character, Jordan McDeere, is the female head of the television network that creates and broadcasts the show within the show: “Studio 60,” a comedy sketch program that resembles perennial NBC hit Saturday Night Live.
Created by Aaron Sorkin (who also produced The West Wing) and starring Friends veteran Matthew Perry, Studio 60 has become something of a hit for the Peacock-logoed network. It seems that while it has yet to crack the top-20, the show hauls in impressive demographics: i.e. educated richies, according to an early November NBC press release.
Jordan McDeere is played by Amanda Peet, who besides appearing in one episode of Seinfeld, has this claim to fame: in 2000, she was voted one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World by People magazine.

Aaron Sorkin really writes some great stuff. Sports Night is still one of my all time favorite sitcoms.
As for mentioning C-Ville…a pity. More non-Virginians might start coming to town and that would cause changes to occur. That is a bad thing.

Funny how breeding and C-Ville go together. C-Ville…home of babies that have their diapers changed on dinner tables at local pizza shops. Add a kid to a show and it dies…I hope the character vanishes from the show. [...]
Yep. I heard it, too. Aaron filmed a couple episodes of an old show in this area three years ago.
I wonder why here? Perhaps some writer/actor has a connection. I wasn’t aware that Sorkin ever filmed here.
Apparently, “A Few Good Men,” the play that would launch Sorkin’s career, went through a test run here at UVA before opening Off-Broadway.

“A Few Good Men,” was amazing when it was here. It had Thomas Hulce in what would be the Tom Cruise role. Hulce was great. I believe it was here because they want people from the JAG school to see it.
I had not known Sorkin had written that. But that could explain the Charlottesville thing quite nicely.
