As the $7.5 million Downtown Mall resurfacing chugs toward its early May completion, some visible signals of earlier neglect have become evident. Here, a new frame for a tree grate gives this willow oak some breathing room— or at least enough room to prevent bricks (look closely at the bark) from getting swallowed/embedded in the tree.
