img_0472 Albemarle County knocked down this house in preparation for building a new library, but the budget experts didn’t count on recession, so the library’s on hold. The house is part of “Lost Albemarle,” the current exhibition at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Historical Society.

I will be interested to see the current exhibit and discover what other historic buildings we have foolishly demolished. With all the architects and historians in town I’m continually amazed to watch as these one of a kind buildings are lost. I am still saddened by the destruction of the Beta/Compton house on Maury Ave.
