UVA’s Devvarman to play in Wimbledon
Write a letter to the editorFor Cavalier fans still reeling from the UVA baseball team’s heartbreaking loss in the College World Series, there is another proud moment for Wahoo Nation on the horizon. On Tuesday, June 16, UVA alum, Charlottesville resident, and 2007 NCAA National Champion tennis player Somdev Devvarman qualified to play on his sport’s biggest stage at Wimbledon. The 24-year-old Devvarman will be playing in the 64-team men’s doubles tournament along with teammate Kevin Anderson of South Africa. Play gets underway at the All England Club on Monday, June 22, when the pair take on the fourth-seeded duo of Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles.
