Going down: Lexington Apartments on Brandon Avenue

The Lexington Apartments at 514 Brandon Avenue may not be paradise, but they are becoming a parking lot. The UVA Foundation, which purchased the two, circa 1957, two-story buildings in May for $770,000 from owner Dorothy Quarles (who bought them in 1963 for $140,000. A 2008 assessment values them at $830,600), has applied for a demolition permit to take them down.
“The property is being “land-banked” for future UVA use,”says the UVA Foundation’s Tim Rose. “ In the meantime, we will replace the current structure with a parking lot.”
