Local author Pulitzer finalist
Speaking of Pulitzers…local author Arthur Herman (seen here at a Play On! toga party at the Frank Ix building) was a finalist in general non-fiction for his book, Gandhi and Churchill: The Epic Rivalry That Destroyed an Empire and Forged Our Age, which the judges called an “authoritative, deeply researched book that achieves an extraordinary balance in weighing two mighty protagonists against each other.” Top prize went to Douglas A. Blackmon for Slavery by Another Name: The Re-Enslavement of Black Americans from the Civil War to World War II.
