Crime scene cig matches murder suspect’s DNA
Two DNA experts testified in the fourth day of the trial of Alvin Lee “Butch” Morris for the 1988 murder of Roger Lee Shifflett that DNA found on a Salem Light cigarette collected at the now-defunct Southwind Grocery the day of the killing matched that belonging to the defendant, while the defense continued to question the chain of custody of the evidence during the past 21 years. Upcoming this afternoon: nearly four hours of auditory tape of the police interview of Morris in 2008.
