Snap o’ the Day: Closed-down drive-thru

The drive-thru bill-pay window at the Albemarle County Office Building is the latest victim of the economic crisis. Despite a proposed eight percent hike in the property tax rate, the County’s hiring freeze means that there aren’t enough clerks in the finance department to keep the window open, says County spokesperson Lee Catlin. However, as tax time looms in late May and early June, the window (shown here February 25) will probably reopen temporarily, Catlin says.
